1. Predicting Price, Turnover and Employment at Market Balance (pdf) 188 kb, published on Sept 13, 2010

Abstract: A comprehensive approach to predicting the growth and employment in various niches of the economy is presented, based on a precise formulation of the market supply and demand with several function variables and software development suitable for event-based and judgmental forecasting. The function variables include propensity to consume, consumer budget, interest rate - inflation quotient, propensity to sell, value added tax, profit, price volatility, market share and market diversity-technical level. Forecasting with the end-user software spans one year in monthly increments.

2. The Gold Standard Straitjacket Revisited: Stimulating the Economy by Using Public Debt as a Lever (pdf) 172 kb, published on Sept 13, 2010

Abstract: The scenario of relief from public debt (monetizing debt) is analyzed by taking into account factors on the international and domestic arenas as well as evaluating empirical findings in the history of market economics. The effects of relief from public debt are simulated in the form of strengthened consumer budgets (tax cuts) based on a quantitative formulation of the demand and supply as implemented in software. It is concluded that relief from public debt is a viable alternative to austerity measures and is more in accordance with the historical evolution of welfare societies up to present times.

Description: Performs calculations of price, item turnover and value turnover at market balance with graphic display and hard disk storage of the results. The user defines a market scope by naming items and then writes arbitrary verbal statements about market events, schedules the onset of an effect of these events, and makes general or item-specific estimations in terms of consumers budgets, propensity to consume, inflation, interest rates, profit, VAT, propensity to sell, technical level, market volatility and/or market share. Transient effects on the market can also be defined.

Once the data have been entered, the program prints a graphic display with monthly projections spanning a year, stores selected numerical values on the hard disk and writes a verbally expressed forecast, all in only 5 clicks. Up to 9 items on three different markets can be handled in the program window using mouse clicks and the keyboard. The program orders the items starting from a) highest projected value turnover and b) lowest price. It also calculates monthly buy and sell recommendations for each item individually and calculates a trading index comprising all items and an employment forecast related to selected items. Other features include orders and work input required to deliver on time and a calendar. The program can be installed in triplicate on the same computer allowing 9 x 3 items on three different markets to be analyzed conveniently. If data folders are dragged out and into the program target folder the limits are set by the computers memory only.

Users: Software is intended for use by forecasters, small businesses, medium or large size enterprises including the manufacturing industry, entrepreneurs, retailers doing shelf stock forecasts, investors, and anyone else working with or interested in predicting market trends. Students of economics and business may find it useful for evaluating market balance problems.

The program also runs in 'DOS-emulator' environments such as provided by www.dosemu.org and www.dosbox.com and can thus be made to run under Linux and other operative systems. Some recent Linux releases (RedHat) come with a DOS-emulator. There are also DOS-emulators for Win CE available on the Internet, for example XT-CE, PocketDOS, etc. Win Vista 64bit lacks a DOS-emulator of its own and must be upgraded.
